Man Beaten to Death with Stick in Rowland Heights; LASD Detains Suspect

A man died early Saturday after being beaten with a large stick in Rowland Heights, and Los Angeles County sheriff’s deputies have detained a suspect in the case.

Deputies from the Walnut Station responded about 4 a.m. to the 18000 block of Colima Road after reports of an assault with a deadly weapon. They found a man suffering from blunt force trauma injuries.

Paramedics pronounced the victim dead near Colima Road and Jellick Avenue despite life-saving efforts.

Investigators said the suspect, who boarded a bus after the attack while still armed with a stick, was quickly identified and detained. Authorities have not yet released the suspect’s name or a possible motive.
