Chicago Felon Charged After Loaded Gun Found During Traffic Stop, Police Say

A Chicago man has been charged after officers from the Cook County Sheriff’s Office found a loaded revolver in his car during a traffic stop in the South Loop.

On September 19, around 7:11 p.m., officers stopped a Chevrolet Impala in the 1700 block of South State Street for allegedly having expired tags.

The driver, Jason Harden, 43, had a suspended license and no insurance, according to the Cook County Sheriff’s Office.

Before towing the automobile, officers examined it and discovered a loaded revolver. Officials stated that Harden did not have a valid FOID card or concealed carry license.

He was arrested and charged with unauthorized possession of a weapon by a felon, as well as other driving infractions.

During his first appearance in court on September 20 at the Leighton Criminal Courthouse, a judge ordered Harden’s release.
