Rapper Sean Kingston, Mother Ordered to Pay Restitution in $1M Fraud Case

Rapper Sean Kingston and his mother, Janice Eleanor Turner, have been ordered to pay $38,500 in restitution to a victim after their convictions in a $1 million fraud scheme in South Florida.

Kingston, 35, whose legal name is Kisean Paul Anderson, was sentenced last month to three and a half years in federal prison. Turner received a five-year sentence. Both were convicted in March of conspiracy to commit wire fraud and four counts of wire fraud. A federal judge ruled that a portion of Kingston’s income during and after prison must go toward repayment.

The pair were arrested in May 2024 after authorities raided Kingston’s rented Southwest Ranches mansion. Turner was taken into custody during the raid, while Kingston was arrested at Fort Irwin, a military training base in California, where he had been performing.

Prosecutors said that between April 2023 and March 2024, Kingston used social media to arrange purchases of luxury items—including a bulletproof Cadillac Escalade, designer watches, and a 19-foot LED television. He allegedly lured sellers by promising social media promotion but sent fake wire transfer receipts instead of payment. Many victims were left unpaid until filing lawsuits or contacting police.

Both Kingston and his mother remain in federal custody in Miami. In addition to prison time, Kingston will serve three years of probation upon release.
