Miami Gardens Woman Charged After Shooting Rival in Dispute Over Boyfriend

Police arrested a 25-year-old Miami Gardens woman after she allegedly shot another woman who came to her home Saturday morning, knowing her boyfriend was inside. The victim left with gunshot wounds to her buttocks and back, while the suspect, Jahniya Imani Meda, went to jail.

The incident unfolded just before 9:50 a.m. in the 3000 block of Northwest 184th Street. Investigators said the victim spotted her boyfriend’s Mercedes-Benz outside Meda’s home, knocked on the front door, and asked for him to come outside. As the victim walked toward a side gate, Meda allegedly stepped onto the porch, fired two shots, and yelled, “Get from my house.”

Police said the victim drove to Walt Frazier Park, where officers found her. Medics took her to HCA Florida Aventura Hospital for treatment. Meanwhile, the boyfriend admitted he had been inside Meda’s bedroom when the shots rang out but claimed he did not answer the door because it was not his home.

According to investigators, Meda admitted firing at the woman, claiming she feared a confrontation after recognizing her from a prior incident involving the same boyfriend. Officers booked Meda into the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center on an attempted murder charge, where she is being held without bond.
