A fugitive wanted for a 2023 Michigan homicide was recently apprehended in Tampa.
The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office apprehended Daniel Ray Partee, 34, a fugitive wanted in connection with a 2023 homicide investigation in Michigan.
The Temple Terrace Police Department reached out to HCSO members after a civilian returned Partee’s wallet to their office. When investigators retrieved the wallet, they located Partee’s Florida driver’s license, which listed an address in Tampa, Central Florida.
Subsequent investigation revealed that the Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety had sought Partee for a 2023 killing.
Deputies arrested Partee without incident. During the arrest, a search of Partee turned up a clear plastic bag containing several Xanax bars. As a result, Partee is facing an additional local charge of possession of a controlled substance.
“No matter how far you run or how well you think you can hide, we will find you,” said Hillsborough County Sheriff Chad Chronister. “This arrest demonstrates that violent criminals cannot escape justice by crossing state lines. Our deputies worked with our law enforcement partners to ensure this dangerous fugitive was taken off our streets. We will continue to pursue anyone who thinks they can commit heinous crimes elsewhere and find refuge in Hillsborough County. Justice may be delayed, but it will not be denied.”
Partee was being jailed locally pending extradition to Michigan to face charges in the 2023 homicide case.
Local law enforcement reports that this is still an active and ongoing investigation.
