Weather Alert: Cold Front Brings 40s Tonight to Pennsylvania, Delaware, Maryland & New Jersey

According to the National Weather Service in Mount Holly, NJ, a cold front will move through the Mid-Atlantic tonight, ushering in a cooling period.

Lows will fall into the upper 40s to lower 50s across much of Pennsylvania and New Jersey, with the coldest readings coming from higher elevations, according to forecasters. Temperatures along the coast and on the Delmarva Peninsula are forecast to be in the low to mid-60s. Winds will change from the north-northeast at 5-10 mph overnight, adding to the chilly conditions.

In the aftermath of the front, Saturday is forecast to be colder and more seasonable. Temperatures will reach the low to mid-70s in New Jersey, eastern Pennsylvania, Delaware, and northern Maryland. Northeasterly breezes of roughly 10 mph will keep conditions crisp, while the sky will remain partly cloudy.

The chilly air signals one of the season’s first notable fall-like changes, which folks may notice during their early morning commutes and weekend outdoor plans.

The National Weather Service advises bundling up for nighttime events and early Saturday morning trips, especially in northern Pennsylvania and northwest New Jersey, where temperatures will be the lowest.
