A bartender at Moe’s Steakhouse in Mission Beach is recovering after being stabbed multiple times in what police described as an unprovoked attack Thursday afternoon.
The incident happened around 2 p.m. at the restaurant on the 3700 block of Mission Boulevard, according to San Diego police. Witnesses reported that the suspect had been on the beach earlier and appeared to be under the influence before walking into the steakhouse and attacking the bartender, stabbing him seven times.
A bystander who had been following the suspect intervened, striking him with a rock to stop the assault. Employees at the bar also joined in, using barstools and other objects to hold the suspect down until officers arrived, SDPD Sgt. Kevin Stein told NBC 7.
Authorities said the bartender’s injuries, though serious, were not life-threatening. An investigation into the attack remains ongoing.
