In a shocking case from Rohtas district, an 18-year-old woman allegedly poisoned her husband and father-in-law to death, leaving her teenage brother-in-law in critical condition. The incident took place on Wednesday night in Aghrer village, where the family was living in a rented home.
Victims and Incident
Police identified the accused as Dhanmantri Devi (18), who allegedly laced the family’s food with poison. Her husband, Vishal Chaudhary (20), and father-in-law, Bechan Chaudhary (48), collapsed soon after eating.

Bechan was pronounced dead on arrival at Sasaram Sadar Hospital.
-
Vishal died while being rushed to Patna Medical College Hospital.
-
Vishal’s younger brother, Vikas Kumar (14), also consumed the food and remains in critical condition at Sadar Hospital.
Background and Possible Motive
The family originally hailed from Gangoura Rampur village in Buxar district but had shifted to Aghrer village. Vishal and Dhanmantri married in April this year.
Investigators suspect a domestic dispute may have triggered the incident, though they are also examining whether mental distress played a role.
Police Investigation
Rohtas SP Roshan Kumar confirmed that the woman has been taken into custody for interrogation.
“The woman is in police custody and is being interrogated. An FSL team visited the house to collect forensic evidence,” Kumar said.
Police are also recording statements from villagers and relatives to uncover the full circumstances behind the tragedy.
