Tucson Man Sentenced To Prison For Attempted Travel For Illicit Activity With 14-year-old

A 71-year-old man was sentenced to eight and a half years in jail on Sept. 10, after pleading guilty to attempted travel with the intent to engage in Illicit sexual activity with an underage girl.

According to the United States Attorney’s Office for the District of Arizona, from February to May 2023, John Stephen Baker spoke with a 14-year-old female who turned out to be an undercover special agent with Homeland Security Investigations.

During their conversations, Baker inquired about previous sexual experiences and voiced concerns about engaging in sexual activity with an underage female because of the risk of prosecution.

Baker traveled from Tucson to Sahuarita with the “intent to engage in illicit sexual activity” with what he thought was an underage female.
