Craig H. Missakian Officially Appointed U.S. Attorney for Northern District of California

Craig H. Missakian has been sworn in as the United States Attorney for the Northern District of California, following approval by the U.S. District Court. Chief Judge Richard Seeborg administered the oath of office Wednesday afternoon.

Missakian has served in the role since May 27, 2025, after Attorney General Pamela Bondi appointed him for a 120-day term under 28 U.S.C. § 546.

“I am grateful to the judges of the Northern District of California for their decision and for the opportunity to continue working with the talented women and men of this Office to serve the people of this remarkable district,” Missakian said. “The U.S. Attorney’s Office is entrusted with the important responsibilities of protecting our communities and upholding the rule of law, and our commitment to the mission remains deep and unwavering.”

As U.S. Attorney, Missakian now serves as the chief federal law enforcement officer for a district covering 15 counties and nearly nine million residents. The jurisdiction includes three major metropolitan areas—San Francisco, Oakland, and San Jose—along with Silicon Valley, home to more than 300 public companies.
