Mississippi Man Sentenced To 38 Years In Prison For Brutal Murder Of Co-worker In 2019

A Mississippi man accused of killing a coworker and hiding the body was sentenced to 38 years in prison on Monday.

Colin Christian King was convicted of murdering Shane Bourret, a Georgia worker who went missing while in San Antonio in 2019.

Court records show that King and Bourret were coworkers who shared a rental apartment. Bourret went missing in early May of that year, and his wife in Georgia told authorities that King had threatened her husband.

Investigators later found a threatening voicemail allegedly left by King. An arrest report also reveals King texting his supervisor, threatening to “end” Bourret if he saw him.

A witness informed authorities that King FaceTimed her to reveal Bourret’s body and requested her assistance. Text exchanges between King and another guy, Donald Barber, were also discovered, in which the two talked about how to dispose of a body. Barber was later arrested and confessed to helping conceal the remains.

Bourret’s remains were later discovered inside a container buried on North San Felipe Avenue.

King was captured in Mississippi and transported to Bexar County, where he was charged with murder and tampering with evidence.
