Violence broke out at a Charlie Kirk vigil in The Villages on Sunday afternoon.
Valerie Jamieson, who co-leads The Villages MAGA Club with her husband Tommy, was knocked to the ground by a woman at the vigil to honor Kirk, who was shot dead last week at an event on the Utah college campus.
Her husband transported Valerie Jamieson to the UF Health Emergency Room in Brownwood. She may have suffered a head injury and was undergoing a brain scan.
While Tommy Jamieson was delivering a speech on stage, Courtney Beth Anderson, 56, from The Villages, abruptly attacked his wife. At Creekside Medical Center in Lake Sumter Landing, Valerie Jamieson was standing near the stage when someone suddenly shoved her to the ground.
Anderson was arrested and jailed without bond at the Sumter County Detention Center. She is charged with aggravated battery.
Anderson has a history of local arrests:
• This past December, she was arrested after leading a Florida Highway Patrol trooper on a chase that reached a high speed of 112 miles per hour. At the time, she listed an address in the Village of Glenbrook.
• In 2016, Anderson was arrested after a disturbance at Best Buy in Lady Lake. Then, she was living on the Historic Side of The Villages.
• In 2011, Anderson received a suspended sentence of one month and 29 days in jail on a charge of disorderly conduct.
