Philadelphia Man Detained For Carjacking At Altoona Sheetz

A Philadelphia resident was detained after an alleged carjacking at Sheetz in Altoona’s Greenwood area of Altoona.

Squan Edgar Washington, 25, was arrested after Logan Township Police responded to Sheetz at 1661 E. Pleasant Valley Boulevard on September 10 for a suspected robbery/carjacking.

According to police, they spoke with the vehicle owner, who claimed that a man later identified as Washington shoved him out of his car and sped away. The victim stated Washington was test driving the vehicle to see whether or not he wanted to buy it.

Police were able to track down the car after the victim reported that his phone was still inside it. Tyrone police quickly located Washington and the vehicle at Choice Cigarette. When Washington observed authorities nearby, he allegedly attempted to drive away again, colliding with a Tyrone police cruiser.

Washington allegedly attempted to flee on foot before being apprehended with a taser.

According to court documents, Washington was charged with aggravated assault by motor vehicle, reckless endangerment, obstruction, robbery, theft of a motor vehicle, resisting arrest, flight, and other connected offenses.

Court records also reveal that he has yet to be arraigned on the aforementioned counts.
