Deported Nicaraguan National Sentenced in Miami Child Assault Case After Return to U.S.

A man deported in 2009 for cocaine trafficking has been sentenced to five years in prison after illegally returning to the United States and pleading guilty to child sex crimes.

Marco Orlando Vado, 66, entered a guilty plea on Wednesday and received a 60-month sentence. The term will run consecutive to a 72-month Broward County sentence for violating probation. His Miami conviction stemmed from an attempted sexual battery of a child under 12.

U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) first identified Vado in November 2009 following his Broward County conviction for trafficking more than 400 grams of cocaine. Authorities deported him the following month.

Return and New Arrest

Despite the deportation, Vado later returned to the U.S. In April 2022, North Miami Beach police arrested him for attempting to sexually assault a child under 12. That arrest led to the charges that ultimately resulted in his new federal sentence.
