Scottsdale, AZ – Scottsdale police are searching for an accused killer after a man was found dead earlier this week in what investigators described as a targeted attack.
On Thursday, police identified the suspect as Matthew Dieringer, a man with a history of homelessness who they described as “manipulative” and “charismatic.”
Investigators said Dieringer often befriends people to secure a place to stay but warned that he is dangerous. They urged the public not to approach him and to call 911 immediately if spotted.
Authorities described Dieringer as a 35-year-old white man, standing 6′3″ tall, weighing 185 pounds, with blonde hair and blue eyes.
Police said officers responded Monday afternoon to a townhome near 68th Street and McDowell Road, where they found 67-year-old Frank Quaranta dead. Officers went to the home for a welfare check after Quaranta failed to show up for work.
Detectives have not released details about Quaranta’s injuries or explained what evidence links Matthew Dieringer to his death.
Anyone with information about Dieringer’s whereabouts should call Scottsdale Police at 480-312-8477 or contact Silent Witness at 480-948-6377.
