Phoenix Police reported that they transported a man to the hospital following a shooting and robbery incident in the Maryvale area over the weekend.
According to a statement released on August 25, officers responded to a gunfire call at approximately 11:00 p.m. on August 24 in the area of 38th Avenue and McDowell Road.
“When officers arrived, they discovered a man with a gunshot wound,” said a piece of the statement.
The victim informed investigators that another individual confronted him while he was walking near 37th Avenue and McDowell Road.
“The victim walked away, and the suspect fired a gun at him and struck him,” according to authorities. “The suspect took property from the victim and took off on foot.”
According to the statement, the victim’s injuries were assessed to be non-life-threatening, and he was transported to the hospital.
Police say they investigated the neighborhood but were unable to locate the culprit. An investigation is ongoing.
