Columbia Woman Taken Into Custody For Two Assaults At Harbor House

A woman staying in a Columbia homeless shelter is taken into custody for assaulting two individuals in front of her juvenile daughter.

On Monday, Jacqueline Jones, 43, was charged with second-degree assault, third-degree assault, armed criminal action, resisting arrest, and first-degree endangering the welfare of a child. She is currently detained at the Boone County Jail with no bond.

The allegations come from an incident that occurred Sunday night at the Harbor House on North Ann Street. According to court records, an employee was in the medicine room when he heard a verbal altercation in the hallway. He claims that as soon as he entered the hallway, he saw Jones and another woman pushing and yelling at one another. Because the disturbance was occurring in front of Jones’ child, the employee attempted to transfer the girl into a room. He claims that’s when he witnessed a flash of light and lost consciousness.

According to the man who was arguing with Jones and a second witness, Jones took a wet floor sign and hit him in the back of the head. According to a witness, the man was unconscious for almost three minutes. He discovered a three-inch cut on the back of his skull when he woke up.

When officers attempted to interview the woman arguing with Jones, Jones allegedly became disruptive, shouting at the woman. Several attempts to handcuff her failed, but three cops working together were eventually able to get her in cuffs.

Court documents state During their battle, Jones bit the woman in the torso and struck her in the face.
