Man killed, cars damaged in North Miami Beach shooting

Police confirmed that a man died after being shot early Wednesday morning in North Miami Beach.

The gunfire broke out around 1:30 a.m. in the 2000 block of Northeast 169th Street, right in front of the gated parking lot at the Harvard House apartments.

Evidence markers lined the sidewalk, leading back to the exit gate of the lot. Investigators also placed markers in the street and beside a parked SUV.

Several cars were hit by bullets, including an SUV with a hole in the rear liftgate. A taxi driver who lives in the building said a bullet pierced his windshield.

“I tried to go to my car and I see it got bullets,” Franklin Pierre said.

Another neighbor reported hearing about 15 gunshots.

Police said the victim was rushed to HCA Florida Aventura Hospital, where he later died.

Detectives went door-to-door in the area, asking residents if they heard or saw anything overnight.

Authorities have not yet determined what led to the shooting or whether the suspect was on foot or in a car.

As of 6 a.m., the street remained closed for the investigation.

Anyone with information is urged to contact Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-8477.
