U.S. Customs Seizes $3 Million in Stolen Trucks and Cars in Texas

Thirty-two Texans are about to see justice for their stolen trucks and cars. U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) seized 32 luxury vehicles worth more than $3 million from the Houston and Galveston ports.

Criminal Networks Exploit Global Trade Routes

Transnational crime groups target high-value trucks and cars, using them to launder drug money overseas. These vehicles were headed to the Middle East, West Africa, Central America, and South America before CBP intercepted them. Criminals often sell stolen cars abroad at a 20% markup, then funnel profits back into drug operations.

How CBP Stopped the Operation

CBP agents flagged the vehicles for inspection, checking paperwork for inconsistencies before clearing them to leave the U.S. Their vigilance prevented the cars from leaving the country.

Area Port Director Thomas Mahn said the seizures highlight CBP’s crucial role in shielding American communities and businesses from criminal activity. Officers not only recover stolen property but also ensure criminals face consequences.

Good News for Victims

Stolen cars are rarely found in good condition—if they’re recovered at all. But this time, 32 drivers are about to get closure after losing their vehicles to international crime rings.
