Florida man shoots, kills driver for ‘blocking him in’ during road rage incident

People lose their temper behind the wheel, but killing someone over a blocked car is beyond reckless. A 24-year-old Florida man ignored that logic and opened fire on another driver in Sanford, north of Orlando.

Police say Jaden Harris shot 43-year-old Joseph Hall Jr. after a heated argument that escalated into violence. The confrontation started when Harris, frustrated with Hall’s slow driving on Mangoustine Avenue, tried to pass him in the opposite lane. Harris believed Hall hit his car, so he followed him.

Witnesses reported that the men argued before Harris warned Hall he “had it on him,” referring to his gun. Harris claimed he fired as Hall advanced toward him, but witnesses said Hall was running away when the shots rang out.

Emergency crews rushed Hall to a hospital, where he later died. Harris now faces second-degree homicide charges in what police call a needless act of road rage.

Florida ranks 10th in the U.S. for road rage incidents, according to ConsumerAffairs, with gun-related traffic violence higher than in most other top-ranked states.
