Miami-Dade deputies arrested two suspects early Wednesday in connection with an armed home invasion over the weekend.
George Byrnes, 32, of Surfside, and Jessica Clendening, 34, allegedly forced their way into a home Saturday night in the 14400 block of Northeast Fourth Avenue while asking for a specific resident, according to an arrest report. Deputies say Clendening grabbed the door and entered uninvited, with Byrnes following and pressing a gun to one victim’s forehead while demanding money and the person they sought.
The victims handed over about $200 in cash and alerted the targeted resident, who later identified both suspects from photos, saying he had known them for years. Authorities have not disclosed why the suspects were looking for him.
Detectives with the Robbery Intervention Detail detained Byrnes and Clendening around 2:45 a.m. near 46th Street and Alton Road. Byrnes invoked his right to counsel and did not give a statement.
Both face charges of home invasion robbery with a firearm; Byrnes also faces aggravated assault with a firearm. They remain jailed at Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center with bonds still to be set.
