Early Monday, deputies arrested a 14-year-old boy who admitted to killing his parents. After the shooting, he reportedly called 911 and calmly waited for authorities at a nearby church.
The teen now faces two counts of second-degree murder.
Sheriff Michelle Cook said deputies got a 911 call around midnight from a teenage boy who confessed to killing his parents.
After the shooting, the teen told dispatchers he walked nearly a mile to a local church. He gave them his home’s address on Silver Point near County Road 220 in Middleburg, where he said his parents’ bodies could be found, and told them he would wait at the church to be taken into custody.
When deputies arrived at the home, they found the bodies of 44-year-old David Lee and 45-year-old Brandi Smith. Sheriff Cook confirmed that both had died from gunshot wounds.
Preliminary findings suggest a domestic argument escalated into violence. Deputies recovered the firearm used in the shooting at the scene and believe it belonged to the victims.
