A Citrus Heights high school teacher has been arrested following a months-long investigation into allegations of misconduct involving minors, authorities announced Thursday.

The Citrus Heights Police Department received a report on March 6 about an individual allegedly annoying or molesting a minor. Detectives identified the suspect as Augustine Sanchez, 48, a teacher at Mesa Verde High School.

As the investigation progressed, officers identified a total of six victims connected to the case. The San Juan Unified School District placed Sanchez on administrative leave shortly after he was named in the investigation.

Upon completing the case, detectives submitted their findings to the Sacramento County District Attorney’s Office, which issued an arrest warrant on July 18, 2025.

Sanchez turned himself in at the Sacramento County Main Jail on July 31 and was booked on charges related to annoying or molesting a minor.

At this time, police say they do not believe there are additional victims. However, anyone with information relevant to the investigation is encouraged to contact the Citrus Heights Police Department.
