9 indicted after takedown of Maryland and Texas drug trafficking scheme

Nine men were indicted after a drug trafficking organization that imported and distributed cocaine between Maryland and Texas was dismantled, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office.

Several members of the trafficking conspiracy were identified during an investigation, including Benjamin Rivas Lopez, Santos Ayala Serrano, Brayan Juarez Cruz, Pablo Abelardo Molina, Fredy Lopez Chinchilla, Gerson Tabora Chinchilla, Hamilton Cha Pacay, German Aguilar Mencias, and Elvin Ayala Paz.

The Baltimore County Police Narcotics Unit initiated an investigation on the gang in January 2025, suspecting they were importing huge quantities of cocaine.

During the inquiry, officers discovered that the group was stashing drugs in many places, including an apartment in Southeast Baltimore and a house in Baltimore County.

Detectives discovered the group’s pattern and thought a new supply of cocaine would arrive at the Baltimore stash house around October 2. They secured warrants for the stash houses and several vehicles thought to be owned by members of the narcotics trafficking ring.

According to the attorney’s office, investigators then traced Molina and Lopez’s automobiles from Houston, Texas, to Baltimore, as well as the stash homes. During that time, investigators observed Molina, Lopez, Cruz, and Serrano carrying many large pieces of luggage into the Baltimore residence.

According to the indictment, detectives searched the flat and discovered around 43 kilograms of cocaine, worth an estimated $4 million on the street, as well as a.22 caliber weapon. Lopez, Serrano, Cruz, and Molina were arrested on the scene and eventually charged in relation to the things discovered in the flat.

During the investigation of the apartment, detectives also searched the stash house in Baltimore County and various vehicles driven by Pacay, Mencias, and Chinchilla, discovering 360 grams of cocaine, $5,921, and a loaded.22 caliber firearm, according to the indictment.
