A late-night prank turned into a serious criminal case when six Houston teenagers were arrested earlier this week for blasting paintball guns at homes and setting off fireworks in neighbors’ front yards.
According to police, the group began terrorizing a Houston neighborhood on Monday night, targeting homes with paintballs and throwing fireworks across lawns and driveways. The ruckus alarmed homeowners, who contacted 911 after hearing loud explosions and seeing masked people fleeing in vehicles.
When the teens returned the next night to continue their antics, officers were already on the scene and moved fast to make arrests.
Authorities stated that all six individuals have been charged with felony criminal mischief. Investigators found paintball weapons, smoke grenades, and fireworks in the defendants’ vehicles.
The arrested individuals were identified as:
- Cash Porter, 18
- Pierce Aspinall, 18
- Noah Abbassian, 17
- Ryan Waggoner, 17
- Alexander Michael Ramirez, 17
- Jonathan Casey Hopkins Crenshaw, 17
Police said all six had been charged as adults. Some have been released on personal recognizance bonds, while others are still in detention awaiting court appearances.
Houston police emphasized that the perceived “harmless fun” could quickly turn into criminal activity if it causes property damage or intimidates neighbors.
“This was not just a prank — this was reckless and dangerous,” an officer familiar with the investigation said. “Shooting paintballs at homes and lighting fireworks in neighborhoods can lead to fires, injuries, or worse.”
Neighbors described the nights as chaotic, scattering paint splatters and garbage over driveways and yards. One resident stated that the explosions were so loud that “it felt like a war zone outside.”
The inquiry is still ongoing as officials check security footage to see if more people were involved.
