Fifty-one confirmed members of the Tren de Aragua (TdA) gang were among 143 people arrested during a major Homeland Security Task Force raid on San Antonio’s North Side, officials announced Tuesday.
Agents launched the operation around 3 a.m. on Nov. 16 at a food-truck park near San Pedro Avenue and Basse Road, a location previously flagged as a regular gathering spot for TdA members and other criminal groups. The raid targeted networks involved in narcotics trafficking, human trafficking, and illegal weapons.
Officials said transnational criminal organizations like TdA have driven violence into communities across the country. They emphasized that the operation was part of a broader effort to prevent gang-related crime, not just respond to it.
All 143 people taken into custody were placed in ICE proceedings. Those arrested include 98 Venezuelans, 21 Hondurans, 14 Mexicans, 4 Cubans, 2 Ecuadorians, and several individuals from Nicaragua, Peru, Guatemala, and El Salvador. Twenty-five had prior criminal records in the U.S., including 13 felony convictions and 12 misdemeanors.
Authorities say the raid reflects an ongoing campaign to dismantle transnational criminal groups and address public-safety concerns linked to gang activity.
