$50M Claim Filed Against Kern County After Woman Left in Coma From SE Bakersfield Crash

A Newport Beach law firm has filed a $50 million claim against Kern County on behalf of a Bakersfield woman who has been in a coma since a crash on Redbank Road in July.

According to the documents, the crash happened around 1 p.m. on July 17, 2025, near Vineyard Road and Redbank Road. The California Highway Patrol said the woman was involved in a solo crash and was ejected from her vehicle, suffering severe injuries.

Avrek Law Firm argues that the woman lost control of her car because Redbank Road was in a “dangerous condition.” The firm claims the hazardous road conditions created a “reasonably foreseeable risk” that led to the woman’s injuries.

The woman remains unconscious and in a coma, according to the filing.
The claim, signed on Nov. 10, 2025, seeks $50 million in damages from Kern County.
