A 50-year-old North Bergen woman is the 15th person arrested as part of a North Hudson drug ring, according to Acting Hudson County Prosecutor Wayne Mello.
Melissa Brown, 50, of North Bergen, has been charged with second-degree conspiracy to distribute cocaine and third-degree conspiracy to possess cocaine, according to Mello.
She was arrested at the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office in Secaucus and taken to the Hudson County Correctional Facility for her initial court appearance.
The investigation has resulted in 15 arrests and the recovery of almost 4 kilograms of suspected cocaine, two firearms, and over $70,000 in cash. The recovered narcotics had a street worth of almost $150,000.
On Thursday, July 17th, law enforcement authorities from the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office executed search warrants in North Bergen, West New York, and Union City.
During the operation, cops detained seven people, including a dispatcher from the West New York Police Department, a retired West New York police detective, and a Hudson County Corrections officer, according to HCV.
The HCPO then reported the arrest of six more people in connection with the investigation, including three public employees: two from West New York Town Hall and one from the West New York Parking Authority.
Then, earlier this month, a North Bergen police investigator previously dubbed “a rising star” for the agency was charged with one count of conspiracy to possess cocaine, as HCV first reported.
