Agents from the Pennsylvania Office of Attorney General, the Drug Enforcement Administration, the Pennsylvania State Police, and the Patterson Township Police stopped a car in Beaver Falls on Saturday, according to the release.
Darnell Lawson, 45, and Taylor Suggs, 31, both from Ohio, were arrested and charged with felony narcotics trafficking, according to authorities. Each was ordered to post a $1 million bail.
Police apprehended the criminals after they fled down an embankment. Agents found five kilograms of cocaine secreted in a bag inside the vehicle’s trunk, according to officials.
“Communities are safer when law enforcement works together, and this stoppage of a high-level drug-trafficking operation is an example of that,” Attorney General Sunday said. “Our office will continue to be a leader and willing partner in unified efforts to cut trafficking pipelines, and hold accountable dealers who often subject communities to violence as they protect their lucrative, illegal trade.”
DEA Special Agent in Charge Thomas Hodnett stated that the investigation demonstrated agency teamwork and a dedication to destroying drug groups in Pennsylvania.
The probe is still ongoing.
