Four people were hospitalized following a multi-car crash on Monday night that sent vehicles into the front yards of homes.
The collision occurred just before 8 p.m. in the 8800 block of N. Balboa Boulevard, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department. Three cars were involved in the crash. One car collided with a tree in a front yard, while another veered onto the sidewalk on the opposite side of the street. A silver SUV remained in the road with visible damage.
Firefighters said two people had to be extricated from their vehicles. The driver of the car that hit the tree was hospitalized in critical condition, while the other three victims suffered lesser injuries.
The Los Angeles Department of Transportation closed Balboa Boulevard between Rayen Street and Parthenia Street as the crash scene was investigated.
