$37 Million in Meth Seized From Truck Hauling Aluminum Burr

U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) seized more than 4,000 pounds of methamphetamine from a commercial truck at the Colombia-Solidarity Bridge cargo facility on August 29, 2025.

A truck crossing into the U.S. from Mexico carried a shipment of aluminum burr when officers referred it for a secondary inspection. The inspection included a canine unit and nonintrusive screening equipment.

During a physical search, officers discovered four sacks of methamphetamine hidden inside the cargo. The drugs weighed 4,241 pounds and carried an estimated street value of $37.9 million.

CBP officers seized the narcotics, and Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) special agents opened a criminal investigation.

“Seizures like this large meth interception illustrate not only the seriousness of the drug threat that our frontline officers face every day, but their resolve and effective use of technology and interception to stop this poison in its tracks,” said Port Director Albert Flores, Laredo Port of Entry.
