3 Teens Apprehended For Tempe Smash-and-grab Using Stolen Cars

Tempe police arrested three teenagers who allegedly slammed a stolen car into a Tempe smoke shop to steal merchandise inside.

Police say the three suspects are 14, 15, and 16 years old. According to investigators, the 16-year-old smashed a stolen red Kia into the store, then packed a cooler with vape items before fleeing with the others in another stolen Kia waiting outside.

Following early reports and online requests for information, police said a community member swiftly came forward with the teens’ identities.

The owner stated that the store sustained an estimated $150,000 in losses, including stolen inventory and substantial damage.

Police stated that all recommended charges will be sent to juvenile court for review.

ABC15 met with owner Fadi Sayed shortly after the burglary.

“We opened this store two years ago. It’s to get my business going, like to get traction, and finally did. Us being closed for a single day is going to hurt business,” Sayed said.

The business is now reopened.
