27-Year-Old Covina Woman Killed in I-5 Semi-Truck Collision

A 27-year-old woman from Covina was killed early Wednesday morning after her vehicle was rear-ended by a semi-truck on southbound Interstate 5, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The crash occurred around 3:10 a.m. north of Valpredo Avenue. CHP investigators said the woman’s 2023 Kia Sorento was stopped in the No. 1 lane for unknown reasons when it was struck from behind by a 2025 International tractor driven by a 49-year-old man from White Water.

Both vehicles traveled south before coming to rest in the dirt center divider. The woman was pronounced dead at the scene, while the truck driver was uninjured.

CHP said alcohol and drugs do not appear to have played a role in the crash.
