23-Year-Old Troutdale Man Convicted Of Rape Gets 20-Year Prison Sentence

A Troutdale man has been sentenced to 21 years and three months in jail after being found guilty of raping one woman and kidnapping another.

Kody R. Jensen was convicted in two Multnomah County trials involving two different women this year but acquitted in a third case involving a different woman, according to court documents.

Multnomah County Circuit Court Judge Kelly Skye ordered Jensen’s sentences to be served consecutively on Friday, stating that she was “stunned” by his actions.

“You have some work to do, and you’re going to have the time to do it,” Skye said, referring to the need for rehab.

Skye convicted Jensen, 23, of first-degree rape and first-degree sex abuse of a woman at a bench trial earlier this month.

In a second case, a jury convicted Jensen in July of kidnapping and fourth-degree assault in a domestic-violence case involving another woman. He was also found guilty of contempt of court for attempting to influence the victim’s evidence.

In another case, he was acquitted this year of first-degree rape against a third lady.

In Skye’s courtroom, one of the victims revealed her long-term injuries and efforts to recuperate from them.

“I have learned that I am resilient,” she joked, “and braver than I thought.”

Woman gets probation in two-year-old daughter’s fentanyl overdose

In a rare departure from Oregon’s mandatory minimum sentencing statutes, a Washington County court sentenced a woman convicted of second-degree assault to five years’ probation rather than the statutory punishment of five years and ten months in prison.

Circuit Judge Theodore Sims noted the precedent set by State v. Rodriguez/Buck, a 2009 Oregon Supreme Court case that provides for alternative punishments when the judge decides that the statutory minimum sentence is inappropriate.

Megan E. Meek, 30, of Gaston, was running errands in Beaverton when she and her fiancé left their two-year-old daughter alone in the car, where the toddler discovered and consumed fentanyl pills on March 13, 2023.

The toddler survived after receiving several doses of Narcan, an anti-overdose medication.

A jury found Meek guilty of second-degree assault on May 1. At sentencing, her defense attorney stated that she had no prior criminal record and has subsequently become a certified recovery mentor through the Oregon Health Authority.

Prosecutors strongly disagreed with Sims’ probationary sentence.

“Parents and caregivers who endanger children’s lives by exposing them to dangerous drugs like fentanyl should face the full weight of the law,” a representative from the Washington County District Attorney’s Office stated.
