22 Arrested, 9 Firearms Seized During Mongols Motorcycle Club Gathering in Palm Springs

A weekend gathering of the Mongols Motorcycle Club in Palm Springs resulted in 22 arrests and the seizure of nine firearms, authorities announced Monday.

According to Palm Springs Police Lt. Gustavo Araiza, about 1,000 Mongols members convened at Hotel Zoso for the club’s annual national meeting, which began Friday and drew a heavy law enforcement presence involving multiple agencies.

Police Chief Andrew Mills said the Mongols — an international outlaw motorcycle gang — met to elect a new president during the event. On Friday alone, officers seized three guns and other contraband from members, Mills added.

Authorities have not yet released the names of those arrested or provided details about the specific charges.

The Mongols Motorcycle Club, founded in California in the 1960s, has long been associated with criminal activity and is frequently monitored by federal and local law enforcement during large-scale gatherings.
