A fight between two men near downtown Phoenix on Saturday morning killed both of them, according to authorities.
According to investigators, Warren Middlebrooks Jr., 37, and Malik Hopkins, 28, got into a fight at 24th Street and Roosevelt Street around 7:45 a.m. A knife and a gun were taken out.
It’s unclear who was holding which firearm, but authorities say they were battling over the gun. When first responders came, Hopkins had been stabbed and shot, while Middlebrooks had just been shot.
Both were brought to the hospital and later died.
Nobody else was involved. The police did not specify what the fight was about. An investigation is ongoing.
