19-year-old Phoenix Man Arrested In Connection With Cottonwood Walmart Bank Robbery

Cottonwood and Phoenix police departments collaborated to arrest Jonathan Pirvulescu, a 19-year-old Phoenix man suspected of robbing the First Convenience Bank inside a Walmart in Cottonwood last month, according to a joint announcement from the two agencies.

The drama unfolded on the morning of Aug. 21, when Cottonwood police were summoned to the site following reports that the suspect had used a note to demand cash from a teller before escaping with the money, according to FOX 10 Phoenix; Pirvulescu allegedly got away with “a substantial amount of cash.”

Pirvulescu was later discovered following a thorough investigation by Cottonwood detectives that involved studying security footage, utilizing advanced technology, and community assistance, according to KAFF News; his arrest in Phoenix occurred in September.

The Phoenix Police Department assisted with the number 16.

Detectives discovered further evidence purportedly related to the crime when investigating Pirvulescu’s residence, and Pirvulescu was jailed at the Yavapai County Detention Facility on robbery and theft charges. He is still there on a $25,000 bond; this step of the inquiry appears to bring an end to a brazen lunchtime heist that rattled the small village of Cottonwood.
