19-year-old detained after multi-county police chase in Indiana

A 19-year-old Williamsport man is facing various charges after leading police on a late-night chase through three Indiana counties, according to the Indiana State Police.

The pursuit began around 11:30 p.m. on December 5, when a trooper noticed a 2025 Honda Civic on State Road 25 near County Road 275 South. The vehicle matched the description of a car that had fled from Lafayette police earlier that day. When the trooper conducted a traffic stop, the driver refused to stop and sped south on State Road 25.

According to state police, the suspect continued on County Road 350 West before turning into multiple country roads, with the pursuit crossing Tippecanoe, Fountain, and Warren counties. The chase ended when the Civic skidded off the road and became trapped in the snow between County Road 1000 East and County Road 450 North in Warren County.

Troopers suspect the driver was intoxicated at the time. The youngster was detained and is facing preliminary accusations of resisting law enforcement with a car, operating while drunk, endangerment, possession of marijuana, operating under the influence of a controlled drug, reckless driving, and minor in possession of alcohol.

He was transported to the Tippecanoe County Jail. The pursuit was assisted by a number of agencies, including state troopers and sheriffs from Tippecanoe, Fountain, and Warren counties, as well as the Lafayette Police Department.
