On November 26, 2025, Manhattan District Attorney Alvin L. Bragg, Jr., announced the indictment of 13 individual members of the ‘OY’ gang. They are accused of organizing violent activities in Harlem and Upper Manhattan in 2024. The charges stem from many instances, including a killing, nine shootings, and an attack at a courthouse. These incidents allegedly targeted rival gangs and occasionally affected bystanders. During the inquiry, police seized 14 semi-automatic guns.
Tresaun Clements, 16, died as a result of one incident in June 2024. Prosecutors say Clements was wrongly identified as a rival gang member and assaulted near West 148th Street and Bradhurst Avenue. He was punched, fell to the ground, and died while in a coma. Authorities stated that Clements was not affiliated with any gang.
The indictment was brought in New York’s State Supreme Court. Twelve of the 13 defendants face second- and fourth-degree conspiracy charges. The group faces 66 charges, including attempted murder, assault, and criminal possession of a weapon. Three defendants are also accused of taking firearms into the Manhattan Criminal Courthouse and attacking two people inside.
District Attorney Bragg stated that the violence hurt both rivals and citizens of Harlem and Upper Manhattan. He underscored his administration’s commitment to tackling gun violence and conveyed his sympathies to the Clements family.
Jessica S. Tisch, the NYPD Commissioner, also commented on the matter. She stated that the police will continue to address gang-related criminality. According to authorities, the alleged gang activity was related to disagreements with other organizations, primarily over drug sales, and took place near various NYCHA developments, including Drew Hamilton Houses, Harlem River Houses, Douglass Houses, and Polo Grounds Towers. The indictment is part of an ongoing campaign to combat gang violence in Manhattan.
