York Institute Tops Lady Tigers In Close Affair

The York Institute Dragonettes earned a hard-fought win over the DeKalb Lady Tigers in Jamestown on Friday by a final score of 54-53.

After falling behind 29-23 at halftime, the Lady Tigers fought back with a 14-8 scoring advantage in the third quarter to tie the game at 37 heading into the fourth quarter.

Offense was hard to come by in the final frame, as both teams struggled to find a rhythm at that end of the floor. In the end, it was York who out-scored DeKalb by a 6-5 count in the fourth to win by a final score of 54-53.

Ellie Leffew led all scorers with 20 points for the Dragonettes, while Haylee Johnson added 15 points. Gabby Beaty scored 12 points.

For DeKalb, Mya Ruch scored 18 points to lead their attack. Emme Colwell and Kenzie France each added nine points.

York will take on Cannon County next on Dec. 10, while DeKalb’s next game will be the same day against Livingston Academy.
