York Football Falls To Smith Co.

The York Institute Dragons (2-2) dropped their week five matchup to Smith County by a final score of 34-12.

Smith opened the scoring in the game when Quarterback Cameron Spivey found Eli Martin for a 94-yard touchdown in the third quarter. York responded with a 28-yard touchdown run from Nathaniel Caste, but the extra point was missed.

The Owls scored the next 13 points to go up 20-7, and though York cut it to 20-12 on Caden Stover’s 87-yard kickoff return touchdown, they would get no closer as the Dragons fell by a final score of 34-12.

The Dragons struggled with turnovers on the night, as they lost two of the four fumbles forced by the Owls’ defense.

Caste led the offensive attack with 74 yards and a touchdown on 16 carries, while Zack Gibson added 47 yards on 13 carries.

York will be back at home next week when they host the White County Warriors at 7 P.M.
