Wildcats Win Back And Forth Game Against Pickett Co

The Monterey Wildcats escaped Pickett County with a 76 to 75 win Thursday night. This game was originally scheduled for December 10th but had to be rescheduled due to snow.

Monterey held a 23 to 22 lead after the first quarter of play in Byrdstown.

Pickett County’s Zach Amonett, head coaches son, and Peyton West of Monterey, head coaches son, both came out of the gate swinging. Amonett scored 11 in the first quarter and West scored 14.

The Bobcats battled back in the second quarter and they held a 37 to 34 lead over Monterey at halftime.

At the end of three the game remained at a 54 all stalemate.

The Wildcats edged out Pickett County 22 to 21 in the fourth to give them a one point victory.

Monterey’s Caden Jones scored a team high 24 points. Jones knocked down eight of 10 free throws in the fourth quarter for the Wildcats down the stretch.

West scored 23 to go along with eight assist and five steals. Kevin Borjas boarded 11 rebounds and added 14 points.

John Parker Regan scored a game high 27 points for Pickett County and Amonett scored 25.

Each team hit seven three point shots. Monterey went 25 of 32 form the free throw line and Pickett County hit 14 of their 23 attempts.
