Wildcats Win Back And Forth Game Against Pickett Co

The Monterey Wildcats boys basketball team held off a fourth quarter come back bid from Pickett County, Friday night in Monterey to come away with a 56 to 54 victory.

After a 16 all first quarter, Pickett County scored eight second quarter points to Monterey’s 13 to fall behind by five at halftime. The wildcats took a seven point lead into the fourth quarter and were able to fend off the Bobcats throughout the fourth for a two point win.

Pickett county had a decisive advantage at the free throw line as the hit 19 of their 24 free throw attempts compared to Monterey who attempted only 10 free throw and made eight.

Silas Randolph scored a game high 16 points and nabbed four rebounds for the Wildcats. Peyton West added 15 points and eight assist for Monterey and Kevin Borjas scored four points and he grabbed six rebounds.

Zach Amonett led the Bobcats in scoring with 13 points. Luke Smith and Will Amonett each scored 12 points for Pickett County.

The win improves Monterey’s record to 15-4, 5-2 on the season. Monterey plays again Saturday evening at home against Van Buren County.

With the loss Pickett county’s record drops to 11-8, 3-5 on the year. The Bobcats will travel to Clarkrange this Tuesday.
