Wildcat Football Falls At Home To Whitwell

The Monterey Wildcats watched their season come to an end on Friday when they lost at home to Whitwell by a final score of 21-7.

Whitwell opened the game by pouncing on a fumble from Jordan Key and proceeded to score on a long touchdown pass to take an early 7-0 lead.

After the Tigers scored again to push the lead to 14-0, Key led a drive down the field that ended with him hitting the pylon for a touchdown to cut the deficit to seven.

That was the closest the Wildcats would get however, as Whitwell finished the scoring with a rushing touchdown late. The defense held on a 4th and 1 play near the goal-line and the Tigers won by a final score of 21-7.

Key finished the game with 97 rushing yards and the lone score on 13 carries, and he threw for 88 yards on 10-19 passing.

Mason Bowman closed out his season with 42 rushing yards on 11 carries, while Kevin Borjas recorded five catches for 54 yards.
