White County Warriors Kick Off The 2019 Season Against Cannon County Friday

The White County Warriors open their season with a home game against Cannon County High School on Friday, Aug. 23 at 7 P.M.

It’ll be the start of the Mark Fraiser era for White County, as he makes his high school coaching debut with the Warriors. Since he’s taken over, Fraiser has gone about molding the mindset of the team into a more physical approach. It’s one that starts with the guys in the trenches.

“It’s no secret that being physical is the key to football,” Fraiser said. “We do have a couple seniors on that offensive line, so if they can produce like we think they can, they’re the key to our season.”

The season gets off to a tough start when they take on Cannon County in their season opener. The first thing that jumps off the page for Fraiser is their quarterback play, which he believes had a big hand in Cannon County’s season last year.

“We know they’ve got a quarterback this year that is really athletic,” Fraiser said. “We’ve talked to several people about him, so we know he’s going to be a real threat … it was a big turnaround (season) for those guys last year, so they’ve learned how to win.”

Fraiser knows this game represents a challenge for his squad, as Cannon returns a lot of its talent from last season. Stopping their offense will be the main key if White County wants to come out of their season opener with a win.

“Cannon runs the Wing-T (on offense), and we’ve had to work on that defensively,” Fraiser said. “We’ve tried to focus on that … we’re going to have a tough task for that first game.”
