Week One Of High School Football In The Books

The high school football season is here, and the scores are in.

Upperman and Cookeville got all the action started on Thursday night with the Bees winning 34-0. Bees running back Jaxson Collins bounded for four rushing touchdowns and had an interception in the win.

The White County Warriors got a good start to their 2022 campaign as Malaki Dowell led them to a 48-0 victory over the Livingston Academy Wildcats. Dowell rushed for four touchdowns while Warrior quarterback Tripp Pinion threw for over a hundred yards, one passing touchdown to Thomas Paul and also rushed in two of his own.

In a game that was once tied 14-14, the Monterey Wildcats busted it open in the second half outscoring Cannon County 36-0 for the 50-14 win.

Cumberland County fell to Whitwell 29-17 at home.

The Warren County Pioneers had victory snatched from their hands in Smithville as the Dekalb County Tigers won 35-34. Tigers trailed 34-20 with under seven minutes to play in the ballgame.

Stone Memorial got the job done against the visiting Lenoir City 30-14. Stone breaks a three game losing streak to Lenoir City with the win.

Clay County shutout Jackson County for the second straight year winning 40-0. Highlights of the game can be seen right here. 

York Institute fell to Bledsoe County on the road 28-14.
