Wednesday Night Hoops Recap: Clarkrange Wins Region Championship

Clarkrange 62, Clay County 38

The Lady Buffaloes used a hot start to the second half to take control of their game against Clay County on Wednesday.

Leading 24-20, Clarkrange scored the first 10 points of the half to go up by 14, and that was the closest the game got the rest of the way in a 62-38 Lady Buffalo win.

Kaylie Monday and Chloe Howard each scored 15 points to lead the team, while Kassie Monday added 12 points.

All three, along with Mattie Bush and Lexi Pierce were named to the All-Tournament Team. Clay County’s Katie Arms, Rachel Copass, Briley Burchett and Bella Ashlock were each named to the All-Tournament Team.

Macon County 51, York Institute 49

The Dragonettes fell just short in the region championship to Macon County, as they lost by a final score of 51-49.

After leading 24-23 at half, York was outscored 9-5 in the third and went into the fourth trailing 32-29.

York outscored Macon 20-19 to stay in the game, but it wasn’t enough as the Tigerettes closed out the win.

Ellie Leffew and Gabby Beaty each scored 12 points, while Haylee Johnson added 10.

Bradley Central 60, Stone Memorial 36

An offensive struggle in the third quarter led to a tough loss in the region championship for Stone Memorial against Bradley Central.

Trailing just 29-22, Stone was outscored 17-4 to fall behind 46-26 heading into the fourth.

Annah Goss led the way with 12 points, while Katie Adkisson scored nine.
