Wednesday Night Hoops Recap: Clarkrange, Upperman Win District Titles

Clarkrange 83, Clay County 51

The Clarkrange Lady Buffaloes got off to a 19-0 start over Clay County on Wednesday, as they won the District 6A Championship by a final score of 83-51.

Kaylie Monday scored a game-high 26 points to lead the effort, 17 of which came in the first quarter. Chloe Howard added 19 points, nine rebounds and eight blocks, while Kassie Monday scored 18 points and dished nine assists.

Katie Arms led the Lady Bulldogs with 12 points, as the entire team struggled shooting the ball from the field (34.6%).

Clarkrange will host Richard Hardy on Friday, while Clay County will host South Pittsburg.

Upperman 47, Macon County 35

The Lady Bees earned the District 8AA Championship with their win over Macon County on Wednesday.

The game was low-scoring from the tip, as both teams failed to hit double-digit scoring until the second quarter, and the biggest quarter advantage was the fourth quarter when the Lady Bees outscored Macon County 15-10.

Aiyana Levy led the way in scoring with 14 points, and Abigail Johnson added 11 points and 11 rebounds. Reagan Hurst scored eight points, including her 2,000th career point.

The Lady Bees will now host Marion County.

York Institute 53, Livingston Academy 31

The Dragonettes earned third-place in District 8AA, as they took down Livingston Academy on Wednesday night.

Haylee Johnson scored 12 points to lead the team, and Laci Patton added 12 points of her own on the strength of three three-pointers.

Aleah Melton led the Lady Cats with eight points, and Hailey Cronk scored seven points.

Pickett County 79, Red Boiling Springs 43
