Wednesday Around UC Sports Nation: Cookeville, Warren Co., Pickett Co. Win Tournaments

Three Upper Cumberland teams won their respective Christmas Tournaments Wednesday, as area teams wrapped up their pre-Christmas portion of their respective schedules. Cookeville (13-0) eked past Stewarts Creek, 55-54, to keep their record intact at 13-0. KK Graves won the tournament MVP award, while reaching the 1,000-point plateau for her career.

Meanwhile, Pickett County (12-2) edged Powell, 69-65, to win the Big South Fork Christmas Tournament in Oneida. Callie Reeder posted a double-double with 20 points and 11 rebounds. Warren County (11-2) got a game-winning shot from Shelby Smartt in overtime to seal a 72-71 victory over White County (10-2) to win the Sonic Shootout in Sparta. Kyra Perkins scored 16 points and claimed MVP honors.
