Wattenbarger Paces First Team With 23 Points Against Moore County

Pickett County Junior Hunter Wattenbarger helped the Bobcats clinch their first berth in the State Tournament since the 2005-06 season with their win over Moore County last Monday.

Wattenbarger was second on the team in scoring with 23 points, as the Bobcats held Moore to just 20 points as a whole in the second half.

This week, he leads the First Bank First Team.

First Bank First Team

Katie Arms (Clay County): Arms led the Lady Bulldogs to a dominant win over Peabody with a game-high 27 points and nine rebounds. She added 15 points in their game against Loretto as well.

Zach Amonett (Pickett County): Amonett also played a big role in the Bobcats’ win over Moore County, as he scored a game-high 25 points.

Briley Burchett (Clay County): The sophomore post scored 24 points and grabbed nine rebounds of her own in the Lady Bulldogs’ win over Peabody.

Grant Strong (Clay County): Strong was a dominant force in the Bulldogs’ substate win over Cascade, as he scored a game-high 40 points to lead the team back to the State Tournament.

Kassie Monday (Clarkrange): Monday led all scorers with 16 points in the Lady Buffaloes’ tough loss to Summertown, and she also finished as a runner-up for the Class A Miss Basketball award.

Collin Gore (Upperman): Gore led the Bees back to the State Tournament with his 22-point outing in a win at Tyner in the substate round.

Alex Rush (Upperman): Rush aided Gore with a 14-point, 10-rebound double-double against Tyner, continuing his excellent play of late.

Jace McWilliams (Upperman): McWilliams claimed a double-double of his own in the substate win, as he scored 13 points and was the ultimate distributor with 10 assists.
